Delete and Rewrite

I know you are all as excited as I am to delve into my editing adventures. To learn about my adding in commas and fixing those run on sentences and let's not forget the oh so exciting misspelled words! But, for the sake of time....and not boring you to death.  I am only going to talk about one aspect of my editing the Delete and Rewrite. (I am up to Chapter 8, by the way.)

As I was fixing the coffee yesterday morning, I was thinking about my editing. (Doesn't everybody?) And I was thinking about how as the creator of my story and my Characters lives, I have the power (HaHaHa).......I have the power to delete something they said or did and rewrite it.  It is then, as if it never happened.  It is from this thought, that I saw the comparison to our Creator, the Lord God Almighty.  Now, my little creation and God's CREATION is of course not comparable, but it is the ability to delete and rewrite or the way the Lord does it, wash white as snow and remake, that I would like to try in my own feeble way, to compare.

Isaiah 1:18
"Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool."

2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."

Now, when I rewrite a scene or a sentence, it only affects my one story.  When the Lord Jesus, takes a sinner and deletes their sin and remakes them, He is affecting, changing that person's life as well as every person they come in contact with.  Generations of people can be affected by one sin and generations of people can be affected by one sinner forgiven.  Some examples of this are: Adam, Sarah, Abraham, David, Saul....Me.  Look them up, great Bible stories that tell about sinners sinning and how we are affected, even today, by some of their sins.  And I can see in my own kids, the results of some of my sins and how that can be passed down to their children. (Sorry, Kids!) But, the Lord Jesus not only stands ready and willing to forgive, He is able to forget your sin....all of it.

Isaiah 43:25
"I, I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins."

As I delete and rewrite, I care that my Characters end up acting and looking just the way I want them to.  Our Creator wants us to act and look like Him.  He said,
1 Peter 1:15-16
"but as He who called you is Holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am Holy."

I don't know about you, but if it weren't for Jesus Christ washing me clean, I would be awfully filthy with my sin.  I didn't want to carry that burden on my back.  We can't be holy on our own, but God is so good.  He thought of everything!  Listen,

2 Corinthians 5:21
"For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God."

So, He doesn't only wash us clean of our sin, He remakes us with His Righteousness (Holiness)!!!  What a deal!  You can't make things in your life unhappen, like I can in my book, but our Creator can bring beauty from the ashes.  He can forgive and forget completely.  Are there still consequences to our sin? Yes, because we live in a world full of other sinners, and it is hard for a sinner to forget or forgive and most of the time, they (we) don't even want to.  But, the Lord Jesus says,

Matthew 11:28-30
"Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly of heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light."

Would you like for the Lord Jesus to delete and remake your story?  This is how,

Romans 10:9
"because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

Romans 5:6-10
"You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.  Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:  While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through Him!  For if, while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life"

My oldest brother recently shared a song by Singer/Song Writer Natalie Grant (one of my favorites), called "Clean" and I felt that this song really puts into words what I am so in-eloquently trying to explain today.  So, I thought I would end with it.  I hope it blesses you, as much as it blessed me.

Thank you, Lord for using Your servant Natalie Grant to speak truth to us through song,  Please take my attempt at explaining Your amazing love, ability to completely forgive and forget and speak to someone's heavy, burdened, sin stained heart. In Jesus' Name Amen.
